The first cross-border exercise of medical emergency intervention in case of collective accident in Romania

A cross-border intervention exercise in case of collective accident was organized for the first time in Romania.

Organizers: Neuromed Ambulance Service – Timisoara in collaboration with the Association of Private Ambulance Services of Romania (Asociatia Serviciilor Privata de Ambulanta din Romania - A.S.P.A.R.) and similar associations of Austria and Hungary.

Participants: Neuromed Ambulance Service, BGS – Bucharest, Samaritanus of TG. Mures, as well as the medical teams of Austria and Hungary, a total of six ambulance medical teams.

The scenario of the Austrian team, played near ”Dan Paltinisanu” stadium in Timisoara consisted of a serious accident involving two cars, two bicycles and pedestrians resulting in 12 victims of which 6 in serious condition The ambulances took turns by making triage of the victims, those with severe trauma were given first aid at the venue and then they were transported to the hospital.

The exercise was coordinated by the specialists in disaster and medical evacuation field of the Austrian Red Cross.
